Sunrise is the one built for a couple. Of the holiday cottages at Little Crugwallins, just outside St Austell, it is the detached bungalow with a single bedroom, a king size bed and an en suite bath, and it makes a quiet, dog friendly base for two people and one dog, who comes at no charge.

The outdoor space comes in three parts, and it is worth knowing which is which. The lawn round the bungalow is enclosed and belongs to Sunrise alone, so that is where the dog is let out first thing and last thing. Beyond it lie half an acre of landscaped garden with a summerhouse and a barbecue, and an acre of field set aside for exercising dogs; both are shared with the other cottages on the site, and there are six steps through the shared grounds.

Inside it is all one level and mostly one room, the living area, the table and the kitchen run together, with the bedroom off it. The part a dog owner will use most is outside the door: a dog shower with hot and cold water. Come back from the coast with a dog wearing half a beach, rinse it warm, towel it off, and it is asleep on the floor before the kettle has boiled.

Pentewan Beach is 4.1 miles off, a wide curve of sand below the village, and from there a level trail follows the river inland through woodland that has stood for 450 years. Mevagissey, still a working fishing harbour, sits just along the coast, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are between the two. One dog and two people can fill a week on this stretch without going far.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Little Crugwallins - Sunrise dog friendly?

Yes, Sunrise welcomes one dog at no extra charge, making it a genuinely dog-friendly base rather than an afterthought. The bungalow has its own enclosed lawn for letting your dog out safely, a shared acre of field for exercise, and an outdoor dog shower with hot and cold water right outside the door.

  • Are dogs allowed at Little Crugwallins - Sunrise year round?

The listing doesn't specify seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's worth contacting Little Crugwallins directly to confirm availability for your travel dates. What is clear is that the setup — enclosed lawn, dog shower, and exercise field — is designed with year-round dog ownership in mind.

  • What should I know before visiting Little Crugwallins - Sunrise with my dog?

A couple of practical things are worth knowing. The outdoor space has three distinct areas: the enclosed lawn belonging to Sunrise alone, a shared half-acre landscaped garden with a summerhouse and barbecue, and a shared acre of field for exercising dogs — and there are six steps through the shared grounds to be aware of. Inside, the bungalow is all on one level, and the outdoor dog shower with hot and cold water is a real bonus after days on the coast.
