Ladybird Barn is one of the Medlam barns at Carrington, in open Lincolnshire country north of Boston, converted in 2020 and finished to a high standard. All on one level, this dog friendly conversion sleeps four and takes one dog.
The garden is the barn's own, enclosed, with a patio, a sitting-out area and furniture, and it is where the dog should be let off. Past it the grounds are shared with the other barns, and there is a pond and a river in them, so a dog wants a lead or a close eye whenever it is out beyond the garden. There is fishing on site for anyone who brought a rod.
Inside is one open room with a breakfast bar, and underfloor heating throughout, which a dog discovers quickly and approves of. Two bedrooms, a super king that splits into twins and a king, share a bathroom with a P shaped bath, and a utility room takes the muddy towels. It suits two couples, or a family, and a dog who likes an evening watching the pizza go in.
There are walks straight from the door into the surrounding farmland. Snipe Dales Country Park, a valley of streams and woodland on the edge of the Wolds, is a short drive, as is Woodhall Spa with its pine woods and plantations. The coast is within half an hour, with Gibraltar Point nature reserve at the southern end of it for a long walk with a dog among the dunes and saltmarsh.
