Fulletby, Tetford and Belchford Circular Walk
Lincolnshire
This is one of the longer circular walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds, linking the villages of Fulletby, Tetford and Belchford and the hamlet of Salmonby over about 12km of the Wolds' rolling chalk and clay hills, with woodland and track sections where a dog can go off the lead. The route follows part of a Roman salt road once used to carry salt from the coast to Lincoln, and joins the long distance Viking Way for a stretch between the villages, passing through woods, farmland and small lakes with wide views across the Wolds. Waymarked with an alder leaf, the paths and tracks can be muddy in places, and there are several stiles and gates plus a few short, steep slopes along the way.
This is a dog friendly walk through quiet Wolds farmland, with moderate off-lead potential on the woodland and track sections away from the villages, though dogs should go on the lead on working farmland, where livestock may be present, and on the short road stretches through the villages. The lakes along the route are a draw for a dog on a warm day, though none are confirmed as safe for swimming. Several stiles need a dog that can be lifted or that will wait for a hand over. The dog friendly White Hart Inn in Tetford makes a good stop partway round, and roadside parking is available near a grassy triangle just outside Fulletby.
