A couple and one dog have Oak Lodge to themselves, a dog friendly retreat in the quiet village of Templeton in central Pembrokeshire. Inside, one open-plan room brings together the lounge, the kitchen, a dining table and a king-size bed, and outside a fully enclosed garden of lawn and patio waits for the dog to make its own.

Step inside and the whole lodge opens up at once: a lounge with a TV and streaming service, a contemporary kitchen for cooking supper, a dining table to eat it at, and the king-size bed that makes a lazy morning very easy to justify. The shower room has a freestanding shower. After a long day out, the dog is usually curled up before the kettle has boiled.

Evenings can move outdoors here. Out on the patio there is a dining table with chairs, plus a picnic bench, and the BBQ firepit cooks supper and then keeps everybody warm as the light goes. The dog takes the lawn, you take the chairs by the fire, and the evening stretches out for as long as the firepit lasts.

Templeton sits in the middle of Pembrokeshire, close to popular walking routes, and Saundersfoot is 5 miles away with its sandy beach and harbour. From there a dog can take the tramway walk to Coppet Hall beach and carry on along the coastal path to Wiseman's Bridge and Amroth for a longer day. Folly Farm makes a fun day out as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Oak Lodge - Templeton dog friendly?

Yes, Oak Lodge welcomes dogs. The garden is fully enclosed and laid to lawn, which makes it a genuinely good setup for a dog — and the owners living next door tends to help settle an anxious dog on unfamiliar ground faster than most things would.

  • Are dogs allowed at Oak Lodge - Templeton year round?

The listing confirms dogs are welcome at Oak Lodge, though it doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions. It's worth checking directly with the owners to confirm availability for your dates.

  • What should I know before visiting Oak Lodge - Templeton with my dog?

The lodge is a single open-plan space — bed, sofa, kitchen and table all in one room with no internal doors — which most dogs find far less stressful than navigating a multi-room property at night. One dog is mentioned as the welcome arrangement, so if you're travelling with more than one it's worth confirming with the owners first. The lanes out of the village are quiet enough for walking, and the Pembrokeshire coast is around 5 miles south.
