Book now

A short stroll from the centre of Saundersfoot, in a peaceful cul-de-sac on the edge of the village, Sands Afoot is a dog friendly cottage sleeping six with two dogs welcome. Its large lawned garden is enclosed, and supper can go on the charcoal BBQ while everyone sits out on the patio.

The entrance hall is made for leaving sandy shoes after a day at the beach with the dogs. To the left, the kitchen/diner has a large dining table where the whole family can gather, and it is fully equipped down to a Tassimo coffee machine. One step down, the new lounge comes with a Smart TV and doors leading straight outside, so the dogs can be on the lawn in a few strides.

The ground floor also has an en-suite double bedroom, and the first floor holds a second double, a twin and a stylish bathroom. In the evening the garden comes into its own: a glass of wine at the seating area, something on the BBQ, while two sandy dogs doze on the grass after a day by the sea.

Saundersfoot's shops, bars and restaurants are a short walk away, and so is the sandy beach. Tenby, with its cobbled streets, and Freshwater East are among the seaside towns and villages along the coast, and Folly Farm, Heatherton and Manor House Wildlife Park make family days out. The tracks and trails from the doorstep suit walkers of all abilities, and their dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Sands Afoot dog friendly?

Yes, Sands Afoot welcomes up to two dogs. The enclosed lawned garden, the lounge that opens directly onto the grass, and the handy hall by the front door where sandy paws and wet dogs can be corralled all make it well set up for travelling with dogs.

  • Are dogs allowed at Sands Afoot year round?

The listing confirms that dogs are welcome at Sands Afoot, but doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions. We'd recommend contacting the owner directly to confirm availability and any conditions around specific times of year.

  • What should I know before visiting Sands Afoot with my dog?

Up to two dogs are welcome, and the layout is genuinely thoughtful for them — the lounge opens straight onto the lawn so there's no carpet between sofa and grass, and the front hall acts as a proper mudroom for sandy boots, towels and dogs coming back from the beach. If you have a dog that can't manage stairs, the ground floor bedroom has its own bathroom and is there for exactly that reason. The old coal tramway from the north end of Saundersfoot beach also makes for an easy, level walk of around 2 miles to Wiseman's Bridge, with no climbing and the sea alongside the whole way.
