1 / 16Sgubor Llwyndu
Betws, Carmarthenshire
A single storey barn for four on a working farm at Betws near Ammanford, with a large enclosed lawn, a private hot tub and two dogs welcome on leads.
Sgubor Llwyndu was a cow shed and milking parlour in the 1900s. It is now a dog friendly barn on a working beef and sheep farm at Betws, above Ammanford, where the owners keep a pedigree herd of Hereford suckler cows along with sheep and goats, and live next door. Two dogs are welcome, and because of the stock the owners ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Everything is on one level. A corridor leads from the bedrooms, a double with its own wet room and a twin, past a family bathroom and into a single open space where the kitchen, dining area and living room meet. There is a breakfast bar facing the patio doors and the fields beyond, a wood burner for the evenings and underfloor heating throughout, so a dog lying on the floor will find it warm.
The garden is large, lawned and enclosed, with a patio, outdoor seating and a barbecue, and the owners describe it as a good place for exercising dogs and children. The private hot tub is out there too. After a walk on the hills, a dog settled on a warm floor and the tub bubbling on the other side of the glass, the view is of rolling green country and a farm going about its business.
There are walks from the property into the surrounding hills, and the Black Mountain rises to the north, open moorland where sheep graze and dogs stay on leads. Llandeilo, a handsome old market town on the River Towy, is 6 miles away, and the long sands of Cefn Sidan and the beaches of Gower are close enough for a day by the sea.

Book with cottages.comFrequently Asked Questions
Is Sgubor Llwyndu dog friendly?
Yes, Sgubor Llwyndu welcomes up to two dogs. The barn sits on a working beef and sheep farm, so the owners ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times, and the large enclosed garden is a great spot for letting them stretch their legs safely.
Are dogs allowed at Sgubor Llwyndu year round?
The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so it's best to check directly with the owners when booking. What we can say is that the barn is well set up for dogs whatever the weather — underfloor heating throughout and a wood burner make it a cosy retreat year round.
What should I know before visiting Sgubor Llwyndu with my dog?
Because Sgubor Llwyndu is a working farm with cattle, sheep and goats, dogs must be kept on leads at all times — both on the property and on the surrounding hills, where sheep also graze. The good news is there's plenty to enjoy: walks into the hills start right from the barn, the enclosed garden is a safe space for exercise, and the single-storey layout means no stairs to navigate.
