The Dingle is a cosy cottage full of character in Kelsall, a Cheshire village with three pubs of its own, and public footpaths lead off from the doorstep towards the Sandstone Trail and Delamere Forest. Sleeping three, this dog friendly cottage suits one large dog or two dogs up to medium size, and there is a basket of goodies waiting just for the dogs.

Boots and coats come off in the front porch. The living room centres on a traditional inglenook fireplace housing a log effect electric stove, so the fire glows all evening without any of the work, and the dogs can lie before the inglenook while someone takes the reading chair. Blankets are provided for the cooler nights. Through the living room door, kitchen and dining space flow together, and the kit runs to a dishwasher and a Hotel Chocolat coffee machine. The double bedroom keeps the original stone chimney breast as its feature, and the single looks down the long garden to the woodland behind.

The kitchen opens straight onto a patio, and a couple of steps lead up to a second paved area, set with its own table and chairs, for coffee first thing. Beyond that runs a long stretch of lawn, where the dogs can play in the evening sun, all within a fully enclosed garden at the rear.

The Sandstone Trail and Delamere Forest are both reachable from the doorstep on public footpaths, with cycleways aplenty, so most days with the dogs can start without the car. Beeston Castle, Oulton Park and Go Ape at Delamere are all within reach, and the historic city of Chester, with its Roman walls, cathedral and amphitheatre, is 9 miles away.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is The Dingle dog friendly?

Yes, The Dingle welcomes dogs. The owners allow either one large dog or two small ones — a refreshingly clear policy — and the fully enclosed garden of lawn and patio is a big part of why they can be so relaxed about it.

  • Are dogs allowed at The Dingle year round?

The listing doesn't specify any seasonal restrictions on dogs, so there's nothing to suggest they aren't welcome throughout the year. It's always worth confirming directly with the owners when you book.

  • What should I know before visiting The Dingle with my dog?

The key thing to know is the pet policy: one large dog or two small ones are welcome, and the enclosed back garden gives them plenty of space to roam between walks. Delamere Forest is just 1.5 miles away and offers 2,400 acres of trails, and the walking from Kelsall itself starts right from the village without needing to drive anywhere.
