The Old Mill was built as a corn mill in the 18th century, and the water that once powered it still runs past the kitchen and lounge windows as a private waterfall. Full of character, with mature gardens, a stream and a wildlife pond, this dog friendly mill sleeps six and welcomes two dogs.
Many of the original features have been put to new use, including some of the old stone grinding wheels, which now form part of the kitchen floor and the table itself. The traditional cottage-style kitchen has a stone floor, exposed beams and a wood burner with comfy seating beside it, where a dog can doze while the cook works. The dining room, with its feature electric fire, seats six for Sunday dinner, and up in the lounge, wood floors, a piano and comfy seating gather round an open fire.
From the lounge, doors open onto an enclosed patio set up with seating and a BBQ, and shallow steps lead down to an enclosed lawn. Through the gate is half an acre of designated conservation area with private access, with lawns for cricket and an orchard, leading to a wildlife pond with resident moorhens, so take care with the dogs there. The stream bordering the lawn is shallow enough for dogs, children and adults to splash around in, and at dusk the owls start hooting in the trees.
