Bovey Castle

Moretonhampstead, Devon

Yes. Dogs can stay in all rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A five star hotel in Dartmoor National Park where medium size dogs stay in every bedroom and lodge, with a walk booklet for dogs starting from the hotel.

Bovey Castle is a five star hotel near North Bovey in Dartmoor National Park, with 60 individually designed bedrooms set through the historic manor and its courtyard, and private estate lodges besides. Dogs are welcomed as soon as they arrive at this dog friendly hotel.

Every bedroom and every lodge takes dogs, and the room you choose sets how many: one medium size dog in the Single, Mews and Classic rooms, and up to two medium size dogs in the other room types and the lodges. Each dog's booking includes bedding and a bowl, and dogs need to be at least six months old and house trained. The dog policy doesn't mention whether dogs can be left on their own in the room, so raise it when you book.

Dogs aren't allowed in the Oak Bar, the Adam Room or the Great Western Grill, but when you're staying, your dog can join you at a dog friendly table in Smith's Brasserie. Its menu runs from tapas style snacks to dishes with flavours from across the world. Beyond the brasserie, dogs are welcome in the Library, in the seating area under the main staircase and on the South Terrace.

The hotel holds three AA rosettes, and the spa has a family leisure pool. Ask for the hotel's walk booklet, written with dogs in mind, with routes from the hotel and further afield; dogs aren't permitted on the golf course. On Wildpack, Teign Gorge Circular Walk is 2.3 miles off and Dartmoor: Becky Falls and Manaton Circular 2.7 miles.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
