1 / 8The Globe Inn
Chagford, Devon
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms.
A traditional Devon country inn at the heart of Chagford, on the edge of Dartmoor, where dogs get water and biscuits in both bars.
The Globe Inn is a traditional Devon country inn at the very heart of Chagford, the town at the edge of Dartmoor National Park, with seven rooms and a bar full of locals. This dog friendly inn makes a ready base for the moor, and the staff are always happy to recommend local walks.
Two kinds of room welcome dogs: one of the Superior Double Rooms, with views of Chagford and its ancient church, and the Classic Double Room, which is warm and spacious with an ensuite and dressing gowns. The Deluxe Suite, the Family Room and the Superior Twin are kept free of pets. On numbers of dogs per room, or any charge for them, the inn doesn't say, so ask when you book.
Picture a pint by the open fire with your dog settled beside you: dogs are welcome in both of the inn's bars, where water and biscuits are put out for them, and you can eat in either bar. The menu is home cooked from quality local ingredients, from hearty pies to delicate seafood, with a good choice of vegetarian dishes, and the bar pours locally sourced ales and ciders alongside whiskies.
The Deluxe Suite has a roll-top bath with an overhead shower and views over Chagford and Dartmoor, and the River Teign draws anglers after wild brown trout and sea trout. For the dog, the moor is all around: Teign Valley: Dogmarsh Bridge and Fingle Bridge Circular is 1.4 miles from the inn on Wildpack, and Teign Gorge and Castle Drogo Circular comes in at 2.3 miles.
