Bunchrew House Hotel

Inverness, Highland

Yes. Dogs can stay overnight.

A four star country house hotel on the shore of the Beauly Firth near Inverness, where dogs can be with you at dinner in the Mackenzie Room.

Bunchrew House stands on the southern shore of the Beauly Firth, just outside Inverness on the road to Beauly, a four star country house hotel in a house whose original parts date back to 1621. Dogs do well at this dog friendly hotel: on the lead inside the building, free to run about outside, with paths leading through the woodlands and around the estate.

The 16 rooms carry no numbers, and are named after local places and Scottish clans tied to the house. No two are decorated alike: four poster beds in some, water views in others, or the gardens and the Cedar of Lebanon known as The Loving Tree. Fresh milk is left in your fridge daily. Which rooms are the dog rooms the hotel doesn't say, and nor does it give a number, so settle both at booking.

The main restaurant room isn't open to dogs, though they can be with you at dinner and breakfast in the Mackenzie Room, which has a log fire and needs booking as space there is limited, and they are welcome in the Drawing Room and the Cocktail Bar as well. Two AA Rosettes have come to the kitchen, which uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, tables laid old school on linen tablecloths.

Log fires burn at both ends of the Drawing Room, the heart of the house, and the Cocktail Bar window frames The Loving Tree. Lawns run beside the Firth, and the hotel says dogs may run freely outside; a resident family of red squirrels lives here and roe deer are regular visitors. Reelig Glen Tall Trees Walk, Moniack, 4.0 miles away, is a Wildpack walk, and Fortrose Beach is the closest beach we map at 9.6 miles.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
