Duisdale House Hotel

Isleornsay, Highland

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A former Victorian mansion on Skye's Sleat peninsula facing the Sound of Sleat, with dog rooms, a dog bed and bowl, and dogs in the Chart Room.

Duisdale House Hotel is a former Victorian mansion on the southern Sleat peninsula of Skye, facing the Sound of Sleat and looking across to the mountains of Knoydart. The dog friendly hotel arrangement is clearly drawn: a number of the bedrooms take dogs, and the Chart Room bar is where they go with you, two-legged and four-legged alike.

The limit is two dogs to a room, and the stay includes a comfortable dog bed and a water bowl of their own. A lead stays on at all times, with care taken close to local livestock, and owners are asked to clean up after their dog. Ask at the time of booking which of the dog rooms are free; the bedrooms are individually styled, and there are lodges, suites and a two-bedroom cottage a short stroll from the main house.

Dogs aren't permitted in the lounge or the restaurant, though the Chart Room will have them for breakfast, lunch or dinner, nautical in theme, with a log fire and a long reach of whisky and gin. The restaurant holds two AA Rosettes, with hand-dived scallop and venison saddle among the dinner dishes, and lunch, dinner and cream tea can be taken out on the deck.

In the garden sit a hot tub and a swim spa with adjustable current, booked in 30 minute sessions with fresh towels provided. Morar Beach is 12.8 miles off, the nearest beach on our dog friendly list, and its own page carries the rules.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
