1 / 8Plockton Inn
Plockton, Highland
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms.
A renovated inn in the sheltered bay of Loch Carron, where dogs stay at the Haven and Sorley's and are welcome in the bar when it is quiet.
Plockton Inn sits in the sheltered bay of Loch Carron in the Northwest Highlands, a village of docked sailboats with views across the water towards a jagged mountainous coastline and historic Duncraig Castle. The inn has been extensively renovated and has kept its charm. It was an easy decision to become a dog friendly inn, with so many dog friendly activities round about, and dogs are very welcome in the guest rooms at the Haven and Sorley's annexe.
Highland Coast Hotels, the group behind the inn, gives every pup a welcome pack from Highland Paws, a local brand: a toy, shampoo, eco-friendly treats and biodegradable bags, and its hotels provide bowls, towels and comfy beds, with spare poo bags at reception on request. The rules are short. A messy dog is a happy dog, but a good clean comes before returning to the room, they stay off the furniture and beds, and a leash goes on around the rest of the inn.
The Seafood Restaurant serves langoustines, known locally as Plockton Prawns, creel caught and landed at the pier in the village, with oysters, mussels and fish besides. Dogs are welcome in the bar when it is quiet enough, supervised and well behaved throughout. The inn does not mention where a dog can eat, so settle that when you book.
The bar keeps local gins, whiskies and ales, with live music every Thursday night and quiz nights to go with it. Guest bedrooms run from singles and twins to family rooms, in bright interiors drawn from the landscape outside. A stroll along Plockton bay with the dog is the obvious start. Balmacara Woodland gardens are another of the inn's own suggestions.
