1 / 8Kinloch Lodge
Kinloch, Highland
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 1 dog per room.
A lodge with views across Loch na Dal on Skye, where one dog shares a selected bedroom and the walks start on the estate.
Kinloch Lodge has been a family home for centuries and a hotel for five decades, a white house in the hills of Sleat on the Isle of Skye, its rooms spread across the North and South Lodges with views over Loch na Dal and out to the Sound of Sleat. The lodge holds a Michelin Key. What makes it a dog friendly hotel worth the drive is the ground it stands on: an abundance of walks on the local grounds that need no driving at all.
The selected dog friendly bedrooms take well behaved dogs, one to a room. A bedroom is not somewhere to leave a dog unattended, and out on the estate they stay on a lead, for the safety of local livestock and wildlife. The rooms take their colours from the landscape outside, and some look over the umber and ochre of the Kinloch Hill.
Dogs are not permitted in the main dining room or the public areas, so book the table accordingly. The kitchen champions the Highlands and Islands, with produce grown, gathered and reared in harmony with nature. Breakfast, lunch and dinner come at set times, and an all day dining menu can be had whenever you want it.
Outside the door is an expansive lawn and a roaring firepit for a glass of wine or a dram. Beach combing works down at the loch when the tide is out, and the hill walking goes up to Leitir Fura, the former settlement behind the lodge. There is fly fishing for wild brown trout too, and 14.3 miles off is Morar Beach, Wildpack's nearest for dogs.
