Fonab Castle Hotel

Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross

Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A five star castle hotel on Loch Faskally at Pitlochry, where dogs stay in selected rooms in the lodge building and dine with you in the Dining Pods.

Fonab Castle is a five star castle hotel across the River Tummel from Pitlochry, Loch Faskally at the doorstep and Ben Vrackie rising behind it. The dog friendly hotel line is clearly drawn here: dogs stay in selected rooms in the lodge building beside the castle, and not in the main castle building, where the lounge, the brasserie and Sandemans are closed to them.

The maximum is two dogs a room, and each one is met with a welcome letter written for the dog, a bed, a bowl and a treat. The dog rooms are in the lodge building, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private patio or balcony, while the 42 bedrooms as a whole are spread across four locations in the grounds. Keep the dog on a leash while you are out on those grounds.

Dogs eat with you on the downstairs outside terrace or in the Dining Pods, both of which have to be booked in advance, and a charge applies. The rest of the hotel heads for 1892 Grill, where Scottish produce meets coal-fired flavour and panoramic loch views, with afternoon tea and cream tea running through the afternoon.

Woodland Spa holds a 15 metre pool, a resistance pool, a hot tub, sauna, steam room and aroma room, with Temple Spa treatments and a fitness centre alongside. The area is packed with forest and riverside dog walks: take the Salmon Ladder along the river, or go up Ben Vrackie, 1.9 miles off, for the views across the town and beyond.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
