1 / 8The Bridge of Cally Hotel
Blairgowrie, Perth and Kinross
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.
An eighteen room inn near Blairgowrie where the Cateran Trail passes the side of the building and dogs eat with you at tables in the bar and lounge.
The Bridge of Cally Hotel stands near Blairgowrie in the heart of Scotland, eighteen en-suite bedrooms with the bridge and the rivers in front of three of them. The Cateran Trail, one of Scotland's Great Trails, goes by the side of the hotel, which is reason enough to pick this dog friendly inn: the walk begins where the car stops.
The hotel's own line is that it is not a holiday without your most trusted companion, which is as good a reason as any to bring the dog. No more than two dogs share a room, and the firm rule is that pets are not to be left alone at any point, in a bedroom or anywhere else in the building; out on the hotel grounds you pick up after your dog and put it in the bin.
Pets are not welcome in the hotel restaurant, though every other part of the hotel is open to them, and there are designated tables in the bar and lounge areas where you can eat your meal with your dog beside you. The kitchen sources locally and cooks from scratch: battered haddock, venison casserole, a beef steak burger, a haggis and black pudding tower. Over twenty Scottish gins sit behind the bar, with ales, a long wine list and a real log fire.
The bridge room is over 200 years old and doubles as the games room, with a pool table, playing cards and dominoes, and breakfast is cooked to order in there, from a traditional Scottish plate to eggs Benedict or French toast with maple syrup. Golf, fishing, shooting, stalking and mountain biking are all on the doorstep, and in between the dog has the Cateran Trail and the hotel's sculptured gardens.
