Bankfoot Inn

Bankfoot, Perth and Kinross

Yes. Dogs can stay overnight.

A restored coaching inn of six rooms in the Perthshire village of Bankfoot, with dogs allowed in the restaurant and welcome in the bar.

The Bankfoot Inn is a restored coaching inn dating back to 1760, family run, in the village of Bankfoot between Dunkeld and Perth on the southern edge of the Highlands. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at this dog friendly inn: allowed in the restaurant, and in the bar and the snug areas, provided they stay on a short lead.

Six letting rooms sit upstairs, single, twin and double, four of them ensuite and two sharing a bathroom with their own sinks, and there is a self-contained apartment as well. Owners bring the dog's own bedding and food, beds and furniture are off limits, and the inn asks you to be mindful of other guests, some of whom may be uncomfortable around dogs. The inn does not say which of the rooms are kept for dogs, so put the question when you reserve.

All the food is home cooked, local produce whenever it is available, and the menu runs to favourites: fresh haddock and chips, steak pie, daily specials and a traditional roast every Sunday. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant, which means yours is under the table rather than back upstairs. Open fires and a wood burning stove warm the room on cooler evenings.

The inn has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for some years now, and the cosy bar and hearty meals are open to residents and passers-by alike. Bankfoot is 7 miles north of Perth and 6 miles south of Dunkeld, with Pitlochry, Scone Palace and the race meets all within reach, and the inn makes a convenient base for exploring Perthshire and the countryside around it with a dog. Fishers, hikers and cyclists are all catered for.
