Murrayshall Country Estate spreads over 365 acres of private Perthshire countryside, ten minutes from Perth and surrounded by rolling hills and ancient woodland. At this dog friendly hotel the Fairway Suites, on the ground floor a short walk from the main house, are all dog friendly, with walking trails that surround the estate.
Book the dog in through the reservations team before you arrive and the room category and the kit are ready in advance. Two dogs are the maximum. Each one is given a Murrayshall pamper pack to keep and take home, with poo bags, treats, a ball and a blanket, and the hotel puts out its own dog bed and bowl for the stay. A welcome letter comes with it.
Dogs are welcome in almost all of the public areas, Barossa and Cairns included, and the Cairns menu runs from grill and burgers to curries and fish and chips with the golf course in view. Dogs are not allowed in Eolas, the restaurant with two AA Rosette awards and an AA Notable Wine List, where the cooking turns on Scottish Highland produce. Afternoon tea arrives with pastries, cut sandwiches and freshly baked scones.
There are 62 rooms, suites and secluded pods across the estate, several of the suites recently refurbished with views of the countryside and tree-lined hills. There are two golf courses on site, and spa treatments are given at the newly refurbished Gate Lodge. The dog's bigger outing is Kinnoull Hill and Tower from Perth, one of Wildpack's walks, 3.1 miles away.
