1 / 8The Charlcombe Inn
Bath, Bath and North East Somerset
Yes. Dogs can stay in selected rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.
A country free house on Lansdown, outside Bath, where the bar and garden are open to your dog and a dog box waits in the room.
Lansdown, on the outskirts of Bath, is where The Charlcombe Inn sits, a country free house with countryside views and a large garden overlooking Bath Racecourse. Walkers drop in for coffee and cake through the morning and afternoon, and well behaved dogs are naturally part of the welcome at this dog friendly inn on the edge of the city.
Selected rooms take dogs, two at most per bedroom, and it's worth calling ahead so the inn can allocate a dog friendly room. Your dog's box is waiting with a blanket, treats, a bowl and poo bags. Keep your dog on a lead throughout, and don't leave it in the room on its own. There are 14 rooms in all: eight Premium Rooms and all four Deluxe Rooms are in a converted stable annexe, and the Deluxe Rooms, inspired by Jane Austen's characters, add air conditioning, a fridge and views over the racecourse.
The pub garden and the bar area are where your dog can join you, on a lead; dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant. Mention the dog when you book a table. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily, from lighter lunches at noon to hearty dishes in the evening, with pub classics and daily specials made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible. The Sunday roasts are popular enough to book ahead, and real ales from independent brewers are on tap.
Six circular walks set out from The Charlcombe Inn, and Wildpack's Bath Skyline Western Loop From Kelston is 0.6 miles from the door, so a walk with your dog is close at hand. The centre of Bath is five minutes' drive away when you want the city.
