Warmley Forest Park and Siston Brook Circular
Gloucestershire
Warmley Forest Park sits on the site of the former Warmley Clay Works, whose thick local clay once supplied a pipe factory here, alongside a coal mine linked to the Bristol coalfield, and the reclaimed grassland now lets a dog off the lead across most of the park. What was industrial ground has been reclaimed as open grassland and young woodland, and the old workings are still visible as earth banks, ponds and scattered brick piles among the trees. This 3.6km circuit starts at Warmley Station car park on the Bristol and Bath Railway Path, a disused railway line, and loops through the park's fields and woods alongside the Siston Brook before returning past the large pond near the entrance. The ground is flat and easy throughout, with barely any climbing, and the park connects north to Siston Common for a longer walk.
This is a dog friendly walk with genuine off-lead freedom, since the wide open grassland has no livestock to worry about and dogs can be let off the lead across most of the park. The Siston Brook and the large pond give dogs a chance to paddle and cool off, though the pond is best avoided in summer when algae can build up. The old railway path is flat and firm, good for less mobile dogs, and links easily to nearby Siston Common. There is a skate park near the entrance to steer around. Dog friendly cafes, including the Warmley Waiting Room, and the Hollybush pub are a short walk away.

Yes — off-lead freedom is one of the real highlights here. The wide open grassland has no livestock, so dogs can roam freely across most of the park without the usual concerns. The old railway path and the circuit around Siston Brook give you plenty of room to let them stretch their legs.
What should I know before visiting Warmley Forest Park and Siston Brook Circular with my dog?
A couple of things worth keeping in mind: the large pond near the entrance is great for a dip, but it's best avoided in summer when algae can build up.
