1 / 8The Creggans Inn
Strachur, Argyll and Bute
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight, up to 2 dogs per room.
An historic inn on the shores of Loch Fyne at Strachur, where a dog sits with you in the Bar area and towels come out for wet coats.
The village of Strachur lies on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, in the Cowal Peninsula of Argyll, and The Creggans Inn is the historic building on the shores of the loch. What makes it a dog friendly inn worth trusting is how plainly it sets out its terms: well behaved dogs are accommodated, and towels come out for cleaning or drying a wet one.
A room takes one large dog or two small dogs, and the house rules are specific. Dogs are kept off the furniture, beds included, and they can't be left unaccompanied in the bedrooms unless a cage is used. At meal times the inn finds it best to keep a dog in the familiar surroundings of your car, unless you are eating from the Bistro menu in the Bar. Among the Loch View rooms, the toile de Jouy one sits under the eaves on the second floor.
Dogs join you in the Bar area; the Lounges, MacPhunns Bistro and the Loch Fyne dining room are not for them. Order from the Bistro menu in the Bar and your dog stays beside you. The chefs work with produce from loch, glen and mountainside, and breakfast in the Loch Fyne dining room comes with five picture windows over the gardens and the loch beyond.
Beyond the rooms there is a gift shop in the reception area with local arts and crafts, and MacPhunn whisky is still poured here. The inn is three stars and children are welcome. Wildpack lists Kilmory Sands as the nearest dog friendly beach, 19.3 miles off, with the Inveraray Castle and Loch Fyne Shore Walk 4.3 miles away.
