1 / 8The Crown Hotel
Nantwich, Cheshire East
Yes. Dogs can stay overnight.
A Grade I listed hotel on Nantwich High Street, rebuilt after the fire of 1583, where your dog can share every meal with you in the bar.
For more than 400 years The Crown Hotel has stood on Nantwich High Street, its black and white facade bowed with age beneath a sweep of leaded windows. The building burned in the fire of Nantwich in 1583 and was rebuilt with timbers from Delamere Forest, and inside there are oak beams, wattle and daub walls and roaring fires. It is a Grade I listed, dog friendly hotel that welcomes a well behaved dog to stay, right in the heart of a historic market town.
The Crown calls itself a pet friendly hotel, and the welcome is for your well behaved dog to stay alongside you. The 18 en suite bedrooms are individually designed to blend history with modern comfort, with a fully stocked tea tray and complimentary toiletries. The Crown doesn't state which of its individually designed bedrooms take a dog, or the number allowed in each, so check both when booking.
The Crown Bar is where your dog can come with you, though dogs can't go into the restaurant. You can eat in the bar for all meals, which keeps your dog beside you. The bar has uneven floors, old furniture and wooden beams, with a changing line of real ales, and the Bar & Grill menu, served all day, runs from chargrilled steaks and lamb to haddock battered in Shropshire Ale.
News of the victory at Waterloo in 1815 was given to cheering crowds here, and the Georgian Minstrels ballroom has been beautifully restored. Live music plays every Thursday evening, and the hotel, where a well behaved dog is a welcome guest, has been a central feature of Nantwich for more than four centuries.
