The Inn on the Moor Hotel

Goathland, North Yorkshire

Yes. Dogs can stay in all rooms, up to 2 dogs per room.

A country hotel in Goathland, in the North York Moors, where dogs can dine with you in the Hydro Bar, the Hotel Lounge or the gardens.

The Inn on the Moor is a country hotel in the village of Goathland, at the heart of the North York Moors National Park, run by people who have dogs of their own. It is a dog friendly hotel where the walking starts from the door: settle in, then head out onto the moor with your dog whenever you're ready.

Every room takes dogs, up to two of them, and the thing to add when you book is the Dog Friendly Package. It brings a padded dog bed, a dog blanket, water and feed bowls with a feeding mat, a toy, welcome biscuits, poo bags and a towel for muddy paws, and there are outdoor washing facilities for after the moor. There are a few house rules: dogs are kept on a lead, they aren't to be left unaccompanied in your room, and they stay out of the Dining Room and the conservatories.

You're welcome to dine with a well behaved dog in the Hydro Bar, the Hotel Lounge or the Hotel Gardens, where the homemade lunch menu is served, and the evening menu is served in the bar as well. If your dog is with you, breakfast is served in the bar too. The bar and lounge are a lively spot to meet new friends, and the kitchen takes pride in generous portions of locally sourced food.

The inn has a garden with picnic facilities, billiards and darts, and two ground floor rooms with views over the fields and moorland. For the dog, the moor is right there: Goathland Moor and Mallyan Spout Walk, one of Wildpack's walks, is 0.2 miles away, and Sandsend Beach, the nearest of Wildpack's dog friendly beaches, is 7.1 miles off. The hotel also suggests the Rail Trail to Grosmont from its doorstep.

Facts checked October 2026 from the hotel's own website. Details can change, so please confirm anything important, especially the dog rules, with the hotel before you book.
