Waternish is a detached former croft cottage on Skye, quirky and homely in character, with the most spectacular sea views across Waternish Bay. It is a peaceful, scenic, dog friendly escape for five guests and a dog, and the large enclosed garden has a hot tub on raised decking for evening soaks with the coast in view.
The conservatory is positioned to make the most of those sea views, and next to it the cosy lounge has a wood burning stove, where the dog curls up while a film goes on and the next day's adventures are planned. The living area is open plan, shared with the kitchen and dining area, and the cottage keeps many of its original features.
The large and spacious master bedroom sits next to the lounge, with sea views and patio doors onto the decking, and the main family bathroom is downstairs too. Up the stairs are a double and a twin. Outside, the hot tub has its own enclosed area on the raised deck, the parking has a gate that closes to keep children and pets safe, and a lovely raised grassed area at the rear has a bench for sitting in the sun while the dog explores.
Skye is a Dark Sky Park, so clear nights bring excellent stargazing, and along the coast there are seals, dolphins and seabirds to spot, with boat trips from Waternish itself. A fabulous pub and restaurant at the Bay is 1 mile away, an easy outing with the dog, and Dunvegan, 7 miles off, has Dunvegan Castle, ancestral home of the MacLeod clan for over 800 years, with its impressive interiors and gardens.
