The Threshing Barn is a beautifully restored 18th century barn complex on a quiet lane near Gilberdyke, with open countryside views across the fields. It sleeps eight with two dogs, and with a self contained annexe flanking the garden it is a dog friendly base made for getting family and friends together.
Inside, it is bright and spacious with a relaxed contemporary feel, a galleried landing looking down over the open plan lounge, dining hall and kitchen. Eight fit round the dining table, big comfortable sofas gather around the log burner, and the kitchen island is the sociable place to perch while somebody else cooks. The snug is also the games room, with an Xbox. The owners ask that dogs keep off beds and furniture, so the dogs' own beds belong by the burner.
Upstairs in the main barn are a king with its own shower room, a zip and link super king or twin, a double and the family bathroom. The Courtyard Barn, a few metres away and all on one level, has its own double, shower room, lounge, kitchen and diner. Outside, the sheltered courtyard garden has a big patio for al fresco meals, a charcoal BBQ and a lawn for garden games, enclosed by post and rail fencing with metal mesh to 75cm and a gate to the lane, room for two dogs between walks.
Walking and cycling trails run along the Humber Estuary and the banks of the River Ouse, at North Cave wetlands and on the Wolds Way, plenty of country for two dogs. Howden is 6 miles away and Beverley a little further, both historic market towns, and York makes a day out.
